ANTARA News , Jakarta, Mon, 11/10/2008
Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso has sent a personal letter to Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Presidential Spokesman Dino Patti Djalal said.
Speaking to the press here on Monday, Djalal said that the letter was delivered by Japan`s former finance minister Toyoo Gyohten at the Presidential Office on Monday.
When delivering the letter, Gyohten was accompanied by former foreign minister Yoshji Nogamu, a director at the Japanese Finance Ministry, Shigeru Ariizumi, a director at the Japanese Foreign Ministry, Tokuruo Furuya and Japanese Ambassador to Indonesia Kojiro Shiojiri.
Djalal said that the main content of the Japanese prime minister`s letter explained Japan`s view over the global financial crisis.
"The Japanese prime minister has sent a personal letter in preparations for the G-20 summit to be held in Washingto DC, the United States on November 14, 2008," the presidential spokesman said.
He said that the Japanese prime minister sent the letter as part of the coordination among the Asian countries in the face of summit of the group of 20 countries (G-20).
"But there is no aspect of the letter that could be given comment because it is a personal letter for President Yudhoyono," he said.
President Yudhoyono and other heads of state/heads of government of G-20 member nations are scheduled to attend the summit on November 14-15, 2008.
The summit, whose holding was proposed by the United States President George W Bush, will discuss solutions to global financial crisis and steps to reform the world`s financial system.
