SUGIYAH SRIWIDATUN HARIJADI
Sugiyah Sriwidatun Harijadi, known as Sugie Harijadi, born in Tulungagung, East Java on November 3rd,1956 graduated from the Catholic Parahyangan University, Bandung, West Java in 1982. Majoring in International Relations, she had always wished to be an Indonesian Diplomat.
In 1984, she joined the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia as a Consular and Diplomatic Official (Batch X).
Her diplomatic career began in 1986 when she served as a staff, and later was promoted as Head of Section for South Pacific Affairs (1987-1989) at the Directorate of the Asia and Pacific Affairs. Her first assignment was as the Third Secretary to the Indonesian Embassy in Vienna/Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Vienna (UNOV) - Austria, then promoted to Second Secretary for Consular Affairs/and accredited to United Nations Development Organization/UNIDO (1989-1992). After returning to Jakarta, she served as Head of Section for Evaluation and Analyze, Bureau of Political and Analyzes, at the ASEAN Secretariat of Indonesia (1992-1995). She was then posted to the Indonesian Consulate General in San Francisco, United States as First Secretary/Vice Consul for Consular Affairs (1995-1999); and returned to Jakarta as Deputy Director for North American Affairs, Directorate of America (1999-2002) and later as Deputy Director for American Affairs, Directorate of North and Central America Affairs (2002-2003). Her third assignment was in the Indonesia Embassy in Beijing, PRC as Counselor and later as Minister Counselor for Political Affairs (2003-2005).
Before she is completing her assignment in Beijing, Sugie was promoted and sworn in as Director for Protocol on the 28th December 2005 until 2008 and remaining active in various diplomatic activities. From 2008 until September 2009, she was an expert adviser to the office of the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia.
During her career as a diplomat, Sugie followed all diplomatic courses and training at the Department of Foreign Affairs, among others the Junior Diplomatic Course (Sekolah Dinas Luar Negeri /SEKDILU); Mid-Career Diplomatic Course (Sekolah Staf Dinas Luar Negeri /SESDILU) and Senior Diplomatic Course (Sekolah Staf dan Pimpinan Luar Negeri /SESPARLU).
In 2000, she was invited by the US Government to attend the Symposium on East Asia Security (SEAS) Program, which was held in Hawaii for one month, and ended by visiting the US Military Site in Hawaii (United State Pacific Commander (USPACOM)); Okinawa, Japan (US Military Base); Pamunjon, South Korea (UN Free Zone) and Beijing to attend the seminar on Taiwan Straight.
Again in 2002, she was invited by the US Government to attend the Asia Pacific Course on Security Study (batch APCSS 2002-2) which was held in the APCSS center, Waikiki-Hawaii, for four months. Sugie was the first Indonesian civilian invited to this program who set up for the forthcoming leaders of that region, which was attended by representatives from 37 countries of the region.
Since Sugie grew up in the businessman family, she of course talented in bargaining and negotiating.
Sugie is happily married to Harijadi Warsosumarto in July 1995.
